Partners In Care Maryland, Inc. (PIC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization established to empower older adults to remain independent in their own homes by:
- Providing specialized transportation services to non-emergency medical appointments, to pick up prescriptions and groceries, and other day-to-day activities.
- Assisting members and customers in obtaining the most appropriate and cost effective mobility services which meet their individual needs.
- Working in partnership with Anne Arundel County Department of Aging, Maryland Transit Administration, and a broad range of human service and community agencies to meet the mobility needs of older adults in the region.
Description of Work:
- Responsible for safe and timely operations of both automatic transmission vehicles, within a scheduled run, or special service.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of passenger safety, and must maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with the public.
- Must be able to courteously answer questions and solve transit-related problems of passengers and practice defensive driving habits.
- Requires experience with wheelchair securement and safety.
- This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of PIC's Drug and Alcohol policy.
Driver Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of commercial vehicles for mechanical problems, prior to beginning scheduled run.
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to all PIC operating rules and regulations.
- Provide safe, timely, and courteous service to the passengers of the PIC mobility transportation program.
- Maintain accurate and legible completion of accident and incident reports at the end of scheduled shift.
- Responsible for completing cash receipts, passenger and operator defect reports, and maintenance repair orders.
- Maintain and record passenger counts, collect monies, and record data, as required.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Must have a valid Driver's License for a minimum of three years.
- Must have held a good driving record for a minimum of three years.
- Must have thorough knowledge of safety and vehicle operation procedures.
- Must be able to work well with people.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Experience with general transportation software is favorable.
- Self-starter, team player, strong organizational and communication skills.
- Background check is required.
