The Volunteer Coordinator leads the recruitment, engagement, onboarding, and retention of volunteers who are essential to advancing Partners In Care’s mission and culture of service exchange. This role strengthens PIC’s community presence by building volunteer pipelines, coordinating outreach and engagement efforts, managing volunteer data, and ensuring volunteers are supported, informed, and meaningfully connected to the organization’s work. The Volunteer Coordinator serves as a key ambassador of PIC’s values in the community and plays an integral role in expanding volunteer capacity and impact.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Volunteer Recruitment & Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and manage volunteer recruitment strategies in collaboration with the Communications Manager using social media, digital platforms, community outreach, and referral networks.
- Community Outreach & Representation: Represent PIC at community events, fairs, workshops, and meetings to promote volunteer opportunities, Service Exchange initiatives. Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, organizations, and potential volunteers.
- Targeted Volunteer Engagement: Collaborate with the Director of Member Care to support targeted recruitment efforts, including veteran engagement through partnerships with military-affiliated organizations, local bases, and service groups.
- Volunteer Onboarding & Orientation: Lead volunteer orientations to ensure understanding of PIC’s mission, values, expectations, and service opportunities. Oversee volunteer intake, background checks, and documentation, ensuring accurate transfer to Member Care for final review and filing.
- Volunteer Retention & Appreciation: Develop and implement volunteer recognition and appreciation strategies, including events, communications, and personalized engagement efforts that strengthen retention and volunteer satisfaction.
- Volunteer Data & Performance Tracking: Maintain accurate, up-to-date volunteer records in databases and tracking tools. Analyze volunteer data to support targeted outreach, engagement strategies, and continuous improvement.
- Volunteer Opportunity Development: Partner with program staff to assess volunteer needs and design meaningful, mission-aligned volunteer roles that match skills, interests, and availability.
- Partnership & Corporate Engagement: Build relationships with local businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations to expand volunteer opportunities, corporate volunteer engagement, and in-kind support.
- Fundraising & Development Support: Support fundraising initiatives and sponsorship efforts related to volunteer engagement and community outreach in collaboration with development staff.
- Confidentiality & Compliance: Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive volunteer information with professionalism and discretion, ensuring compliance with organizational policies. Adhere to all PIC policies and procedures, including health, safety and anti-discrimination standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant professional experience required; bachelor’s degree in project management, social work, gerontology, or related field preferred.
- Experience in volunteer coordination, nonprofit operations, or community engagement strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience using social media, digital platforms, and outreach tools for recruitment and engagement.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of volunteer management best practices.
- Proficiency with database systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
